Samsung Mobile Communications head, JL Shin has confirmed that the company will be releasing a 4-inch –mini- version of their Galaxy S III smartphone on October 11 in Germany. He announced the same during a meeting with the Korean press on Wednesday.

Further details regarding the device have not been revealed, but Shin does mention that it will not be an entry-level handset but instead it will have “full form factor”. It is interesting to finally see a high-end Android device which will come with a smaller display as most of the high-end Android smartphones tend to have a much larger display. Hopefully, it will be running the latest version of Android and will come equipped with a quad-core Exynos processor.

Shin also said "There's a lot of demand for a 4-inch screen device in Europe. Some call it an entry-level device, but we call it 'mini.'"

Update:
German website Mobile Geeks, has leaked the alleged specs of the device, which says that it will run on a 4-inch PenTile display, with a 5 megapixel camera and a ST-Ericsson U8420 1Ghz dual-core processor. If the specs turn out to be true, we might just be looking at a very mid-range price on this phone, or atleast until other smartphones manage to catch up on the firmware front. Via Verge.
