Sharp is another one of those old-timers that are hurting real bad, with fear of going out of business. The company apparently has much of its hopes pinned on its IGZO display, particularly on the back of smartphone industry engaged in a battle of pixel density. To that end Sharp has debuted Aquos Phone Zeta SH-02E through Japanese carriers NTT DoCoMo, which will start shipping on November 29.
The phone will have a 4.9-inch, IGZO-based display with 720p resolution. This may not be too impressive, but Sharp prides on its display’s low power consumption, a claim that will be put to the real test soon. The price of the phone is not known, but the specs put it in the top-of-the-line category.
